Spotlight on Learning

Thank you for a wonderful start to Grade 3 2026!!                                     Our Weekly Focuses:

Religious Education: We have been exploring what it means to be a part of the community of Ephesus and the importance of persistence. It is the year of Grace and during the year of Grace we are focusing on the saint St Francis Assisi. We are beginning our journey in understanding the Sacrament of Reconciliation. 

English: We have started reading the Narrative story 'Matilda' by Roald Dahl. This is a book about Matilda who is a brilliant child with a magical mind. However, her parents have decided that she is just a nuisance who wastes too much time reading. Her headmistress Miss Trunchball is a mean lady who thinks children are rotten and awful. Luckily for Matilda she has a loving and kind teacher called Miss Honey. Mathematics: Grade 3 have been exploring place value to 5 digits. We have been practicing using the language of tens of thousands, thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. Students are exploring place value through Concept Development, Problem Prompts and scaffolded Tasks. Next week we will focus on reading, writing and representing 6 digit numbers.  

Auslan: We been revising greetings, using eye contact and the importance of facial expressions.
