Book Week is Coming!
St Joseph's Primary is excited to be celebrating CBCA Book Week in August. Throughout the week of the 19th August, we look forward to celebrating all things READING, celebrating literature with some flare! The theme for 2024 is, 'Reading is Magic'.
Our Year Six leaders are working busily behind the scenes to generate some excitement and some special events for the students across the school.
As is tradition, the week will end with a special celebration
BOOK WEEK PARADE

Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book week character, and we invite all families to attend the parade in our school atrium.
Mr Brother Jack Awards
Congratulations Oscar and Liza!
Earlier this year, our senior school students participated in a creative writing unit. All students were encouraged to take submit their writing in either the My Brother Jack awards, or the Dymocks Writing Competition. We are so pleased to announce that two of our Year Six students, Oscar & Liza have been named as finalised in the Senior Primary - Short Story Category.
We are just so proud of the hard work and initiative these students have shown, and are wishing them all the best for the final ceremony. Winners will be announced on September 1st.
Andy Griffiths Workshop
Our Year 3 - 6 students were very fortunate to join Andy Griffiths as he celebrated the launch of his newest series, Adventures Unlimited: The Land of Lost Things! Andy Griffiths is one of Australia’s most popular children’s authors. He and illustrator Terry Denton have collaborated on more than 33 bestselling books since their first title, Just Tricking, was published in 1997. Their much-loved Treehouse Series has been embraced by children around the world and is now published in more than 35 countries!
Students were taken on a whimsical adventure around magical lands and were introduced to some of the stellar characters in Andy's new book (say hi to Johnny Knucklehead and Pookie!). It was a wonderful opportunity for all students to ask questions and gain insight into the creative mind of a bestselling author!
During the workshop the students had the opportunity to create their own 'imagination land' and engaged with a range of question prompts, that taught them how to keep a story moving forward. The children in the middle school are excited to submit their drawings and quotes to the competition, that could see St Joseph's being the recipient of some Andy Griffiths novels for the school library.
Happy Reading,
