Foundation - RRRR

 

In Foundation, students have been learning about stress management.

 

 

 

 

Why is it important?

 

Stress is a normal part of life, especially as children get older. Children who cope better with life’s stressors develop good mental health and wellbeing. Assisting students recognise their personal signs and symptoms of stress to develop strategies that will help them to deal with those effectively, will help them cope with challenges in the future.

Room 13:

Immanuel: Learning how to be respectful.

Vanessa: Learning about the values.

Emily: Learning how to be kind and not exclusive.

Isla: The melting tiger game.

Lisia: Learning about what happens when you are feeling tense.

Frankie: Learning what emotions are and what happens when these emotions occur.

Room 15:

Theo: The melting tiger game.

Ruby: Learning about being kind.

What are strategies you can use to deal with stress?

 

Room 13:

Immanuel: Go to the reading corner and calm down.

Vanessa: You could go to your mum or parents.

Emily: Relax and go somewhere cozy.

Room 14:

 

Frankie: Deep breathing, lay on the ground.

Isla: Sit down and talk to someone.

Lisia: Take 5 deep breaths.

Room 15:

Theo: Take 3 deep breaths.

Ruby: Go in your bedroom.

Leo: Balloon breath or talk to someone.

 

 

Why is it important to understand when we are feeling stressed?

Room 13:

Immanuel: So you can calm down.

Vanessa: So we can stop it.

Emily: Because you can stop yourself from getting upset.

Room 14:

 

Frankie: So we can use the strategies.

Isla: So you can sit down and calm down.

Lisia: So you can do something to help yourself.

Room 15:

Theo: So we can take 3 deep breaths.

Ruby: So we can ask for help or talk to someone.
