Our renowned whole School Concert this year will be held on Monday 21st October and Tuesday 22nd October. The classes have already begun their rehearsals for this special event. More information will be sent home via your child’s class teacher during the remainder of the term, so please keep an eye out for this.
Yesterday you would have received a notice that students in Years 4 to 6 will have the opportunity to attend three sessions run by Sex Education Australia (SEA). The company was established in 2011 because they were determined to provide quality, age-appropriate sexuality, and relationships education to Australian students. Since then, they have delivered sessions to tens of thousands of school students and their parents and caregivers, seeing first-hand the positive difference this type of education has made in individual lives. I too have conducted some inquiries regarding the programs that they SEA run and have received excellent feedback.
Sex Education Australia's Primary School Programs present students with accurate and age-appropriate information about body safety, anatomy, reproduction, and puberty. We also discuss consent in simple terms. Their programs align with the Victorian Curriculum and are delivered by experienced and trained educators. The sessions are interactive, engaging, and respectful of the wide-ranging values that families have. This year’s program is called "Living and Growing." It begins with a parent information evening on 26 August at 6.30pm via Zoom. This online Parent Information Evening is to help support parents to be the ‘go to’ person for their child. It will be connected to the in-classroom program, how to talk to your child, and how to find further support.
Today to celebrate Science Week the students have had a fun learning experience at the ‘Liquid Nitrogen Show. The students learnt about what’s cooler than cool, yes ‘Liquid Nitrogen.’ They learnt all about the states of matter and what happens when we heat things up and cool things down with our super cool chemical nitrogen. There were lots of ice breaking volunteer moments, chilling demonstrations and even a frosty explosion.
Just a reminder to please complete the 2024 Parents / caregivers / guardians survey. On Monday I sent the link to the survey to all our families. It is important that we receive a high rate of returns on the survey, so that we have a broad sample of ideas and opinions, to inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
Finally, we are all looking forward to our Mini Olympics tomorrow, it is guaranteed to be a fun day for all. And don't forget that our Father's Day stall is coming up on the 28th August. I would also like to wish our Aerobics Team all the best for their competition on Saturday which will be an excellent precursor for the National Competition in two weeks’ time. Go Syndal!!
Have a great fortnight.
