Find time for yourself

The pace of life at St George’s never seems to ease. Although experience tells me that this is symptomatic of school life everywhere these days.

Already this term we have completed another outstanding production, the Interhouse Athletics Carnival and started the process for the election of the 2025 student school leaders. We have celebrated NAIDOC Week and presented an impressive number of students with awards at our Semester One Academic Awards Assembly.  It is only the end of Week 2!

On the subject of NAIDOC Week, I have just added a very useful article to our SchoolTV channel on this very subject.

ST GEORGE"S SCHOOL TV - NAIDOC WEEK REPORT

Also, the Mandela House Parent Sundowner will take place next Thursday and Year 10 Camp will be here before we know it.

It is easy in these hectic times in our lives to forget that we all need some time for ourselves to stop, reflect and recharge. Often called “mindfulness” this is now understood to be a key component of looking after our own personal wellbeing. This can be a long walk in the bush or on the beach, reading a book, listening to music or even taking a short nap.

Can I encourage you all to find the time for some healthy self-indulgence every week. I know this can seem like an impossible task or wholly selfish, but the benefits are well documented and tangible.

Recent events have left me somewhat reflective on what matters most.

I hope you take the time to remind yourself what matters the most to you and to let the people in your life know just how important they are.

The term ahead is packed with opportunities for us to come together as a community to support and encourage each other - the St George’s Way.
