Curriculum Update

Semester One Awards

Today, we celebrated students across all year groups in our Semester One Academic Awards Assembly. It was wonderful to be a part of a milestone celebration that recognises the consistent efforts displayed over the first semester of the 2024 academic school year. As Head of Curriculum it is one of my favourite events in the school year.

I would like to congratulate all students who received an award and further encourage those that missed out in Semester One to set a goal to work to the best of their ability to have their efforts recognised at our Semester Two Academic Awards Assembly.

Term 3 Assessment Calendar

To assist families in supporting their child with assessments this term, please see below our individual year group assessment calendar. We encourage you to print these documents and hang them on the fridge for easy reference and planning!

Year 7, 12 and New Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent-teacher interviews for Term 3 are fast approaching, and we encourage families of Year 7 and Year 12 students, as well as those new to our school in Term Three in Years 8 to 11, to book their sessions soon. This is an excellent opportunity for students to engage in conversations about their learning journey. Please check your nominated email address for an invitation which will be sent out on Monday, 29 July. Please note the following dates:

  • In-Person Interviews: Tuesday, 6 August, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Bookings close on Monday, 5 August.
  • Online Interviews via Remote Access: Wednesday, 14 August, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Bookings will open on Tuesday, 13 August.

All Year 7, 12, and new students are encouraged to attend these interviews to be a part of the conversation about their learning.

As a new initiative this term we invite all parents, guardians or carers attending the Face to Face Parent – Teacher Interview Night to bring your small change with you when you visit the school for the interviews to bag a bargain as we are going to be selling to families the vast array of second hand uniform items that we have this is unnamed and has been uncollected for over a term. We have blazers, pumpers, skirts, shorts, school bags – and the list goes on. We will be selling some of our accumulated spare uniform items, with all proceeds raised going to support Alzheimer’s WA. It’s the perfect opportunity to get a second blazer or spare tie. Please do come and give generously and clear out some of our supplies.

Year 7 and 9 2024 NAPLAN Results

Schools have now received individual student reports for Year 7 and 9 2024 NAPLAN. Please note that your child's results, alongside an information sheet, have been mailed to your nominated address this week. For our Year 9 families, given the changes to NAPLAN reporting introduced in 2023, further details regarding OLNA eligibility for your child will be communicated later this term. If you have any questions about interpreting your child's NAPLAN results, please contact me at abochrinis@stgeorges.wa.edu.au.

Year 11 Semester Two Course Changes

A reminder that all Year 11 course change requests are now closed for the remainder of the 2024 academic year. If any Year 11 student wishes to change any of their ATAR or APEx courses, the next available window for changes will reopen during Week 1 of the 2025 academic year. I wish all Year 11 students the very best with their Unit 2 studies across their suite of courses.
