Olympic-sized effort at a new venue

Our colourful Guild set the scene and the spirit for our inaugural WA State Athletics Track-based Interhouse Athletics Carnival on Wednesday. The Year 12’s enthusiasm and zest to participate rubbed off on the entire student population and it was through their example that a thrilling day played out from the starting event, the 1500m, to the exhilarating four x 100m relays in driving rain at the end of the day. Many thanks to our fantastic Guild for their leadership

The student involvement and participation was quite remarkable, and we witnessed lots of tenacious athletes running, jumping and throwing themselves into the new 2024 school records. Congratulations to all students for your commitment and I look forward to announcing the winning House, student champions and the ACC Team at assembly on Monday. The ACC G-Division Athletics Carnival is taking place on Monday 2 September, with training every Tuesday 3.30-5pm at UWA Sports Park.

It is always terrific to have parents attend the day and the new venue was outstanding. Many thanks to Mrs Campbell who initiated the move – our Principal loves athletics and was a successful track athlete back in her day!

Not only do the students excel in carnivals by dressing up and getting involved, but so do our staff. Collectively they all stepped into official roles, successfully hosting various events sometimes out of their comfort zone. It was great to have alumni students return with Sam Beck doing a brilliant job at javelin with our Business Manager Todd Thatcher.

Thank you everyone for your work and putting on your PE hat for the day.  Special mention to the PE Department who worked together to get a new-style carnival off the ground. Thanks very much for all that you do!
