What a remarkable journey it has been with our 2024 musical production of Frozen Jr. While curtain has closed, the magic and memories will stay with us forever.
Our production was filled with the kind of magic that only theatre can bring. From our first rehearsal to our final bow, we witnessed an extraordinary transformation in our cast and crew – and it was an absolute joy to share this beloved family show with you.
Our rehearsals were filled with fun and dedication as our students faced the challenges of learning to read music and finding their voices with determination and enthusiasm. Watching them embrace these challenges and grow as performers was one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. We hope their progress thrilled you as much as Olaf loves summer!
This production would not have been possible without the incredible support of our Performing Arts leaders. Performing Arts Captain Will ensured everything ran seamlessly behind the scenes; Drama Prefect Jess infused energy into our warm-ups and creative direction, andTayla inspired her fellow dancers to embrace their vocal talents and brought a positive spirit to every rehearsal.
Our Year 7 students transformed from frequent faceplants to mastering their troll walks with humour and flair. The Year 8 students discovered their social abilities and constantly supported one another, even when caught munching on snowflakes! Our Year 9 students eagerly took on swing roles, always looking out for one another and supporting the cast.
The Year 10 students’ exceptional singing abilities were greatly missed during their exam break, but they returned with commitment and camaraderie that strengthened the production. The Year 11 students overcame a rocky start to make a high impact, embracing every challenge with humility and zest. Just like Kristoff and Sven, they truly had each other’s backs! Our Year 12 students displayed immense love and dedication, contributing significantly to vocal projections and professional theatre etiquette. They ensured everyone was singing and united the cast with their positive influence. Their strong bonds were the "true love" that warmed this production.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our creative team for their work behind the scenes. Euan MacMillan, our vocal coach, brought magic to our voices with his patience and guidance. Michelle Hyland, with her perseverance in prop construction, helped students create wonderful props and design pieces for the set. A heartfelt thank you to the St George’s staff and parents who supported us throughout this process.
Special thanks to parent Janelle Barnes-Smith for costume construction, Phryne for her bubbly energy, Karen and Joseph Corcoran for building the ice cart, and all the parents who participated in the holiday set painting workshop. Your invaluable contributions made this production truly special.
To everyone who attended this performance, we hope you were inspired to treasure your quirks, cherish your uniqueness and celebrate your inner magic. Thank you for joining us.
As we reflect on this experience, we are filled with gratitude for the love and support from our friends, families and creative community. Together, we have created something truly magical.
