Sustainability Updates
We're excited to share some fantastic sustainability updates at Fairfield PS!
Kew High School Sustainability Summit
Our Grade 5 & 6 students from the Eco Club had the incredible opportunity to attend the Kew High School Sustainability Summit. This inspiring event brought together 150 students from various schools to exchange ideas and learn about sustainable practices.
I went to the Eco Summit at Kew High School and for me it was a turning point. We got to hear from so many inspirational voices – people from all around – the owner of the Hub, the driving force behind Farm My School and so many others. We also participated in an engaging activity where we made our own recycled items.
I think everyone should consider coming to these sorts of meetings not just for the fun but also for the information.

Amelia from Grade 6 even created a video showcasing Fairfield PS's waste initiatives, which was showcased at the summit. You can watch the video here.
Plastic Free July Celebrations
Fairfield PS has been actively participating in Plastic Free July. Our students have created an artwork display, which is on show at the Fairfield Library. The display highlights the impact of plastic pollution on our environment and showcases our comprehensive waste management strategies here at Fairfield PS. It will be on display until the end of July.
Refillable Containers in the Staffroom
In our ongoing efforts to reduce single-use plastic, the staffroom now features coffee beans, washing liquid, dishwashing powder, and cleaning spray in refillable containers. This small change contributes to a significant reduction in plastic waste within our school community.
Reusable Cup Library
Introducing our new reusable cup library! For those moments when staff members forget their own cup, they can now borrow one from our library to enjoy a coffee without contributing to single-use cup waste. If anyone has a keep-cup at home they don’t need, feel free to drop it off at school for the cup library!
As always, we extend our thanks to the Environmental Sustainability Working Group (ESWG), our dedicated staff, and our entire community for their support and commitment to making Fairfield PS a leader in sustainability education.
