Principal's Message

Term 3 - Week 2

Swimming and Water Safety Program

Today is the final day of our swimming program which always ends with a fun day! Students have done an amazing job of working hard across the two weeks to improve their skills both with swimming and their independence. Students are organising their belongings and following a different routine for the two weeks - all great experiences for developing well rounded students. I want to acknowledge all the support we have had from families across this time too. Congratulations to Hamish and all the staff on their organisation of such a successful program.

Child Child Safety and Wellbeing @ MPRPS&K

Mount Pleasant Road Primary School and Kindergarten is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.

Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our website: https://mtpleasantroadps.vic.edu.au/

We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We are currently reviewing our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.

Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact Kim or Erin on 98781730 or at mt.pleasant.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Enrichment & Student Excellence

Victorian High-Ability Program

The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) is an enrichment program for students who are selected by the Department of Education based on their academic excellence. Throughout Semester One this year, 17 students engaged in challenging online lessons in English and Mathematics. Virtual Schools Victoria hosted WebEx sessions where students virtually met and interacted with like-minded peers. Each course runs for ten weeks across each term.

We congratulate the following students who demonstrated curiosity and love of learning whilst participating in the Victorian High-Ability Program in Semester 1 this year. They were all committed to extending their skills and understanding when learning new and interesting concepts in their English and Mathematics courses.

Digital Technologies Review

Our Digital Technologies review is progressing, This week, our Principal team and IT Specialist met with Managers and Technicians from the Department of Education’s Technology Division to discuss our Digital Technologies program.

It was good to hear about different approaches across different schools. Our next steps involve seeking, collecting, and analysing data from teachers and students, before preparing for our community forum at the beginning of Term Four. Stay tuned!

The Great Book Swap

Have you seen our donation tubs in the office yet? If you haven’t, this is your reminder to check out your home library and give it the refresh and declutter that it deserves. Thank you to the many generous families who have donated already. We will continue to collect donations right up until Friday 23rd of August. The tubs are starting to fill up with a wide variety of texts for the students to purchase in our upcoming Book Swap
