Wellbeing Update – Building Positive Routines and Strong Foundations
It has been a really positive start to the year across the school, with a strong focus on establishing consistent routines and shared expectations to support all students.
As part of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) approach, all classrooms are now explicitly teaching and using our Matrix of Expected Behaviours, which you will see displayed in all classrooms. This helps ensure that expectations are clear, consistent and understood by all students, no matter which class they are in. Alongside this, our school values — Respect, Resilience and Responsibility — are being explicitly taught and modelled, helping students to understand what these look like in everyday learning and social situations.
Teachers have also been prioritising the establishment of clear classroom procedures and routines (such as entry, exit, transitions and classroom expectations). These predictable structures play an important role in helping students feel safe, settled and ready to learn — something that helps all learners, but especially those who benefit from additional support.
As part of our staff professional learning this term, all teachers have begun reading Running the Room: A Teacher’s Guide to Behaviour by Tom Bennett. This text supports a consistent, evidence-informed approach to classroom management across the school, and complements our SWPBS work.
Wellbeing Morning Tea – Parent Invitation
We warmly invite families to join us for our first Wellbeing Morning Tea for the year:
Thursday 19 February
9:00–10:00am
School courtyard (coffee van available at drop-off)
This will be an opportunity to connect with other families and learn more about wellbeing at our school. We will share an overview of our wellbeing approach for 2026, including key programs and initiatives, and introduce my role as Wellbeing and Inclusion Leader.
We hope to see you there!
Kind regards,
Joanne Weston
