Teaching & Learning

The first weeks of school are always full of energy as students reconnect and make new friends, settle into new classes and begin their learning journey for the year ahead.
Learning for Life
A key part of this journey is our Learning for Life program that takes place across Years 7-12 once a week. In these sessions students explore what it means to live our school values of Respect, Resilience and Care. LFL supports students to build positive habits, strengthen relationships, investigate their future pathways and develop the mindset needed to approach learning with confidence and perseverance.
Learning Opportunities
Across the year, we have a wide variety of clubs, incursions and excursions that take place to enhance our learning program. Students across the school have already been engaging in a range of valuable learning experiences.
Year 7 students have been exploring Global Citizenship over the last few weeks, learning about their role in a connected world and developing an understanding of how their actions can positively impact their community and beyond.
Year 9 Full Steam Ahead classes went to the Whittlesea Tech School to build their Rube Goldberg machines, taking advantage of their expertise, facilities and materials.
Year 11 and 12 VM students have started industry visits through their Work-Related Skills program, connecting with local businesses Mainfreight and Eriez to gain insight into future career pathways. These experiences help students see how the skills they develop at school can translate into real-world opportunities.
Year 11 and 12 VCE English and EAL students recently participated in an essay writing incursion, where they explored strategies for developing strong analytical responses and building confidence in their writing.
In our extra-curricular activities, the Games club, Dungeons and Dragons and Maker Spaces have all been thriving. We would like to thank Mr Ryan Molyneux for his passion in running these spaces that our students so love.
Looking Ahead
NAPLAN
From March 11-23, students in Years 7–9 will participate in NAPLAN. We encourage students to approach NAPLAN with confidence, show resilience and simply do their best.
We are also looking forward to some wonderful whole-school events, including our Athletics Carnival, which is always a highlight of the year, and our upcoming Open Night, where families and future students will have the opportunity to see the engaging learning and opportunities taking place across our school.
Open Night
We warmly invite prospective families and members of our community to attend our Open Night on Thursday 26 March from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. The evening will begin with a main presentation from the school leadership team, followed by student-led tours showcasing our learning spaces and the teaching and learning programs offered across the school. Visitors will also hear from our students about the many opportunities available, including leadership pathways, extracurricular activities, and programs that support student growth and engagement. We look forward to welcoming families and sharing what makes our school a vibrant place to learn and grow.
