Food Safety Reminder                                             Birthday Treats and Food Sharing

To help keep all children safe at school, we would like to remind families of a few important expectations regarding food brought into classrooms.

When providing birthday treats, please keep items simple and clearly identifiable, such as a small lolly bag or individually wrapped chocolate like a Freddo Frog. This helps staff and ensures they are safe for all students. Please do not bring in treats that contain nuts.If you are unsure whether the treat is appropriate, please speak with your child’s teacher beforehand. If your child has food allergies, you’re welcome to provide alternative treats for them to enjoy when birthday treats are shared in the classroom.

We also remind families that food sharing between students is not permitted. While this is a helpful habit for general health and hygiene, it is especially important for protecting children with food allergies and anaphylaxis. We are also aware that some children kindly like to buy food from the canteen for their friends. While this is a thoughtful gesture, it is not permitted. This helps ensure that students with allergies are not accidentally given unsafe foods and also ensures that parents know exactly what their child has eaten during the school day. Please speak with your child about the importance of only eating the food packed by their family or purchased for them.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

We have four children in our school with severe anaphylaxis allergies they are in the below classes: PJM, 6SP, 2MV and1NL.

First Aid Incursion coming up at OLA!

The First Aid in Schools Program equips primary students with age‑appropriate First Aid knowledge, including how to act in an emergency and call 000. Through interactive games, stories, and CPR learning, students gain practical skills in an engaging way. These foundations help build a more confident and resilient community. We are fortunate to have three educators coming on Monday 23rd March.

Keeping children safe on major gaming platforms

eSafety notified  Roblox—one of the most widely used online gaming environments for children—of our intention to directly test the platform’s implementation and effectiveness of the nine safety commitments it made to us last year.

This action follows growing concerns, including from the Australian Government, about online child grooming and sexual exploitation.

Our proactive testing aims to ensure platforms are meeting their commitments and doing their part to create safer online spaces for children and young people.

While regulatory action is vital, we also know families may need practical support to help children enjoy online games safely and confidently in everyday life.

That’s why we’ve developed the gaming toolkit—a collection of easy‑to‑use resources designed to help you encourage your child to have these positive experiences, while helping to protect them from risks and exposure to harmful content.
