Library News

Australia’s most beloved storytellers, Andy Griffiths, has been named the Australian Laureate for 2026.
Andy Griffiths is the brilliant mind behind some of Australia’s most wildly imaginative and laugh-out-loud books, including the hugely popular The 13-Storey Treehouse.
For years, Andy has inspired children across the country to read more, laugh more, and let their imaginations run completely wild. His stories are filled with marshmallow machines, flying cats, sea-monkey mayhem and treehouses that just keep getting taller and taller!
Goldfields Library is excited to host Andy’s first stop on the National Launch Tour. With support from the Australian Children’s Laureate Foundation and the City of Greater Bendigo, Andy will visit the Bendigo Town Hall on March 21 for a lively and interactive session.
