St Joseph's, Quarry Hill is a child-safe school.   We promote the safety, well-being and inclusion of all children.

Whole School Procedure

Next week, we begin a new whole school procedure as part of our Classroom Mastery program.  Each class has been practising how to move from the yard to the classroom, move from the library to the classroom or transition from any activity to activity.  A whole school expectation is to move quietly and calmly to ensure safety and consistency.

As with any new skill or concept, behaviour needs to be taught explicitly.  Every classroom in Australia is filled with students from different backgrounds with different values and beliefs about what is expected as safe behaviour.  To help students achieve success, we need to teach them and model expected behaviours.

PBIS Team News

The PBIS team have been very busy establishing new reminders around the school.

Together they have decided on soccer, sandpit and down ball rules.  A great team effort!

Supporting Students to Thrive in their Transition

We warmly welcome our families and community to our upcoming CatholicCare Workshop on Monday March 16 at 9.15am in the Art Centre.

Although the heading on the flyer says "Starting School", the workshop’s focus is broader and centres on supporting children to thrive through transitions, including:

  • understanding and managing big emotions

  • establishing routines

  • maintaining consistency

  • practical strategies to support children at home.

Families who wish to attend are asked to please RSVP — full details are included on the information sheet below.

Child Safety

At all times, the ongoing safety and well-being of all children and young people will be the primary focus of care and decision-making, with particular attention paid to the most vulnerable children, including Aboriginal children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with a disability, children who are unable to live at home, international students, and students of diverse sexuality.
