Wellbeing Update
At Toorak PS we are always working hard to promote and strengthen student wellbeing and engagement and have prioritised it in our Annual Implementation Plan. To this end we have a number of exciting opportunities for students and parents.
The Year 4 and 5 students will be participating in a workshop around understanding bullying. The Year 5 and 6 students will also have the opportunity to participate in a workshop called Thrive, which helps students to foster positive connections with their peers, both of which you’ll hear more about via Compass.
To complement this, we are offering parents an online seminar run by Bully Zero called It Takes a Village on Thursday 27th March at 7pm. This session provides an understanding of bullying behaviours, how to identify it and how to manage it, covering the following topics:
- Different types of bullying
- The role of the bystander
- Statistics
- Current social media trends and online
- dangers
- Account management, privacy and
- reporting
- What parents can do to help reduce
- online risks
- Strategies
- Where to go to for help
I hope to see many of you take up this opportunity to attend the webinar because as the title says, it truly does take a village to raise a child.
Student receiving Treatment for Cancer
We would like to ask for your co-operation in an important matter. One of our children is receiving medical treatment which puts them at serious risk if they develop chicken-pox, measles or shingles. For chicken-pox, shingles and measles a special protective injection is available for this child, however, it is only effective if given within 72 hours of exposure, and only lasts for one month. It is very important that you let us know immediately if your child develops any of these infections. Please ensure you notify us immediately as the health and wellbeing of your child’s friend depends on this information.
