Dear Parents and Carers,

Parents and schools play a vital role in a child’s education, and when we work together, we can make a real difference in their learning, health, and wellbeing. Strong connections between families, schools, students, and the wider community create a supportive and enriching environment where children can truly thrive.

Getting involved in school life—whether by volunteering in classrooms, attending open mornings, helping with fundraising, or supporting school events—not only benefits students but is also incredibly rewarding for parents. It’s a great way to see your child in their learning environment, build relationships with teachers and other families, and feel more connected to the school community. Children love seeing their parents engaged, and it reinforces the message that their education is valued and important.

Your involvement, big or small, helps create a positive and inspiring learning space for all our students. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and support you give—thank you for being such an important part of our school community!

So, I challenge you all to think about how will you build connections and contribute to creating a positive and inspiring school environment? Whether it’s through volunteering, attending events, or simply engaging with school life, every effort makes a difference. We’d love to have you involved in whatever way works best for you!

Working Together - Positive behaviour by all

Our school community continues to show strong unity, resilience, and a commitment to our shared values. These values are deeply embedded in our school culture, helping us foster a positive and supportive learning environment for all.

As we begin a new school year, we’d like to take this opportunity to share the Department of Education and Training’s policy (Family Engagement in Schools) which outlines the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in school communities. This policy sets clear standards to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone—students, staff, parents, and visitors alike. By working together and upholding these values, we can continue to create a welcoming and supportive school community where all students and staff can thrive.

We are seeking your co-operation with our parent payments/school contributions

TPS takes great pride in offering a rich and enriched educational experience that goes beyond the standard Victorian curriculum.

The much-needed support from curriculum contributions, library and building trust funds, along with other generous contributions from our community, plays a crucial role in funding these valuable programs and initiatives. These contributions help ensure that students continue to receive exceptional learning opportunities and resources.

Thank-you to the parents who have paid their school contributions, which we appreciate and need, as it pays for all the materials the children have already received, along with our exemplary resources and programs.

We want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary, but much needed and very well utilized.

The continued support from our families is invaluable in helping us provide the highest quality education and wellbeing support for our students. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of our families, whether through parent payments, contributions, second-hand uniform sales, and our amazing fundraising activities.

A special thank you to those who have made voluntary contributions, including contributions to our tax-deductible funds and other school initiatives. Your generosity directly enhances the opportunities available to our students, enriching their learning experience and supporting their growth. We are truly grateful for your ongoing commitment to our school community.

Our amazing new playground which will be installed in March, has only been made possible by locally raised funds (think sausage sizzles, raffles, cake lotto, trivia nights, cake stalls etc. over many years) along with parent contributions over the years. Our plans to update the library area, based on parent feedback, is also only possible by the contributions of our families. Without these contributions the brand-new iPads, which are available across the school, would not have been possible.

Once again, we thank-you for your understanding and appreciation of the benefits that the parent payments/contributions bring to our students and for your support to TPS and its programs. Your contributions are vital to our school.

How are we further supporting our students - Tutor Learning Initiative Program (Learning Enhancement) to Continue in 2025

We are pleased to announce that our Learning Enhancement Program (formerly known as the Tutor Program) will continue in 2025, thanks to the extension of state government funding and the school’s financial contribution. This program has had a significant impact, with many students benefiting greatly from the dedicated support provided last year, with a focus on Literacy and Numeracy.

Ms. Robinson is leading the program, having already completed an analysis of 2024 student data to identify small groups for targeted support. The Learning Enhancement Program, an initiative of the Department of Education & Training (DET), is designed to assist students who may not have achieved their expected learning progress over the past few years, in responsive to COVID.

Families of selected students have been notified with relevant program details, and an additional intake of students will be identified in Term 2 and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support and for working with us, to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for your child/children.

Kind regards,

Sharon Wildermuth
