Principal's Message

Claudia from Year 5 – Victorian State Ballet Company
Congratulations to Claudia who has been accepted into the Victorian State Ballet Company. This is a highly prestigious position that has been achieved by countless hours of lessons and performances. She will be studying the Vaganova Classic Ballet program which originated in Russia.
Claudia will be performing at the Karralyka Theatre, Ringwood from May 16th to 18th in The Snow Queen. Later in the year she will also feature in The Nutcracker. Claudia is hoping to be selected for the adult company performance, of the Spanish Ballet Don Quixote. If she’s lucky enough to get in they will be performing for four weeks at the Palais Theatre Melbourne.
Kiss and Go and Afternoon Pick Ups
Hopefully this is the last nag regarding car parking! In the morning and afternoons when you are dropping off or picking up your children using the Kiss and Go area, can you please make sure you move to the last available car space. It is really frustrating for others when parents drop off at the foot of the stairs when there are no cars in front of them. It’s not much further for your children to walk and ensures we can fit more cars into the kiss and drop area.
Curriculum Day – Monday 3 March – Student Free Day
As mentioned last week, another reminder that Monday 3 March is a student free day. Billanook staff will be undergoing mathematics professional learning including working with the new Math Curriculum 2.0 and the updated Victorian Teaching and Learning Model.
Open Evening and Twilight Sports – Tuesday 4 March
We are looking forward to our first community event of the year. We will be beginning the evening by having classrooms open from 4:30pm for children to show their families what they’ve been learning in class. Then, from 5:30pm the fun begins as we begin our twilight house sports events.
We encourage children to wear their house colours for the night. We will have sausages available from 4:30pm if you’d like a snack or an early dinner. We are hoping to finish before 7pm so all children can get to bed for a good night’s sleep.
Year 5 Camp
The reports are in from our Year 5 children, and they all agree that the Year 5 city camp was fantastic. Some of the activities that the children participated in included: Queen Victoria Market, Old Melbourne Gaol and Courthouse, a tour of the zoo, Eureka Sky Deck, Bounce and a city cruise.
Camps are a fantastic opportunity for children to develop independence and foster new relationships.
