St. Cecilia’s Junior and Senior Choir

This year we welcome back the Junior Choir and Senior Choir programs at St. Cecilia’s.

Junior Choir is open to students in Grade 1 and 2 and will be held on a Tuesday in the first half of lunch. Students do not need a permission form as this is a lunchtime activity. Those wishing to join the Junior Choir will have an opportunity to sign up in the coming weeks.

Senior Choir is open to students in Grade 3-6 and will be held on a Tuesday afternoon from 3.15-4pm. A copy of the permission form has been sent via Audiri. The Senior Choir will commence Tuesday 18th February.

WHY JOIN THE CHOIR?

  1. Friendships: Choir gives an opportunity for students with a common interest to develop friendships across different classes and year levels. Older students are great role models for the younger students.
  2. Well-being: Just like exercise, singing releases chemicals in the brain. These hormones can reduce stress and anxiety and boost pleasure receptors which helps improve your mood.
  3. Build confidence: Singing and performing as a group builds confidence and self esteem
  4. Goal setting: Choir participants are always working towards common goals whether it be the sound they’re making or preparing for a competition or performance.
  5. Musicianship: Participants develop a range of music skills including aural skills (listening), singing in tune, harmonising, dynamics, rhythm and tempo.
  6. IT IS FUN!
