Fun in Foundation Music

Foundation students have been working on establishing a steady beat through singing, movement, playing instruments and games. They have enjoyed exploring different instruments and the way they sound and have learned to categorise them as shaking, taping or scraping.

This week we sang a song called ‘Swing me over the water’ where they had to stretch out a piece of lycra and move the fabric to the beat. A teddy bear was placed in the centre of the fabric. They moved their arms to the beat of the song and raised their arms on the last beat to make the teddy fly in the air. This took teamwork and patience as the timing needed to be right for the teddy to fly.
