Literacy Helpers Course

2.20-3.20pm, Tuesday 11 March, 2025

Are you interested in helping during reading groups in your child’s Foundation or Year One classroom?

To help with reading groups, you are required to participate in a one hour training course. This course explains the basics of reading and writing, and how both of these areas are highly dependent on oral language.

We will also look at the different types of reading activities offered and discuss the role and requirements of a parent helper.

In addition to attending this one hour training, all literacy helpers must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC), in accordance with state directives for volunteers working in school settings.

The 2025 Literacy Helpers course will run on Tuesday, 11th of March from 2.20-3.20pm in the Staff Room, and will be the only one for this term. Due to the swimming program at the end of this term, Literacy helpers will commence early in Term 2.

Interested participants can contact Marnie Chapman by email to register their intention to attend.
