From the Head of the Junior School

Welcome to the 2025 Academic Year!
We are off and running in the Junior School. I hope all children have plenty of things to tell their parents at the end of the day, because every time I visit classrooms (which is every day), our students are busy and engaged in learning.
It’s been fabulous to meet new parents and see them welcomed by families in our community. I know that this was happening in the holidays, with many children coming along having already met new friends. I would encourage all new parents to come along to our Welcome Picnic events:
Wentworth Falls: Wednesday 26 February from 3pm – 4:30pm on the oval
Springwood: Friday 14 March from 5:30pm – 7:30pm on the lawn
Last year, our P&F worked really hard to build community and raise funds for our Junior School. We have some significant playground improvements coming soon on both campuses. I’d love to thank all parents who were involved, and continue to be involved, for their dedication to our school. I hope all parents can get involved, even in some small way for one event, in 2025.
This year I have challenged our students to consider how they “Grow someone” – this is one of our school behaviours and it focuses on how we build each other up, with our words and our actions. As a staff we have also embraced this school behaviour and are actively looking for opportunities to encourage each other and build up each other. Parents are also asked to join this challenge, particularly as you speak as a group. Please be mindful to speak positively about our students and families. Every child in our school is precious and growing and learning on their own journey. Please champion them all!
Lastly, thank you for your attendance at our Information Evenings this week – for taking time out to come and hear all about the learning that is happening in the Junior School. Stay in touch – your best and first port of call is your class teacher. We look forward to a year of open communication and working with you to create great opportunities for your children.
