Learn what opportunities our students have been taking on

Year 7 Launch Camp

Recently our Year 7 cohort had an awesome time away on camp in Robe! The Launch Camp is a great way to kickstart the year and for the students to get to know one another and some of their teachers. A highlight from students was surfing, as well as a visit to the icecream shop!

Deacon University Sessions

Last week, our Year 10-12 students participated in sessions delivered by the Deakin University Engagement and Access Program.

Year 11 and 12 students attended the 'Level Up Study Hacks' session. Students were given important tools and strategies for effective study habits. Topics included the forgetting curve, the importance of practicing recall, using a weekly schedule and the use of the Pomodoro method for study.

Year 11 students also attended the 'Just Decide' session, which focused on increasing student understanding of the importance of decision making, increasing their capability and confidence in making informed decisions and creating decision making strategies.

Year 10 students attended the 'Money Moves' session where they explored financial literacy by participating in a board game activity.

Opening Mass

On Thursday, we gathered as a whole school at Ss Michael and John's Catholic Church for our Opening Mass, led by Monsignor Glynn Murphy and Father Sanjan.

The Year 11 cohort was presented with their senior badges, as well as the 2025 Student Leaders and Captains. Sean McDonald, College VCE Dux for 2024, was presented with a certificate and spoke about his plans for the future. We thank Sister Jacinta Rice for her attendance, and for providing our student leaders with a Brigidine blessing. We also thank School Leaders from SMJ Horsham, Ashlynne O and Stephanie P, and Mrs Louise Chesterfield and Mrs Lisa Glatz, for joining us and for their assistance during the presentation.

We have had a great start to 2025 and look forward to an excellent year with our students, families, staff and community!

Student Achievements

We are always excited and proud to hear about the achievements and ventures of St Brigid's College students out in the community!

Christopher Burton, James Burton and Luke White recently had success at the Regional Little Athletics Carnival in Warrnambool.  Luke won gold in the high jump event, James placed first in his 100m, 100m hurdles and triple jump events, and Christopher placed first in the 800m, 100m hurdles and discus events. Well done!

Amy Bolwell regularly competes in clay target shooting, attending tournaments all around Victoria throughout the year. She recently competed in Warrnambool, where she had a successful day, despite the windy conditions and competition of over 200 shooters! Amy is looking forward to her next tournament and we wish her all the best!

Stella Sostheim has been attending local markets for the last few months, selling her homemade honeycomb, made from her grandfathers honey. What a great experience running her own small business! Stella's Honeycomb Delight will be at the Haven Market this Saturday morning. If you know a St Brigid's College student doing great things in the community, let us know at info@stbc.vic.edu.au!
