Facilities & Capital Works

Frances Hansen & Dr Denise Clarke

Capital Works:

Transition and Longer term planning:

All schools have a Facilities Schedule based on the type of school and the number of students enrolled.   When school enrolments reduce, so does their right to use more than their allocated allowance of space. Schools with excess space (based on the Facilities Schedule) have their cleaning and maintenance funding reduced. This means if the school uses the space and needs it cleaned ,it will have to be paid for from school curriculum funds.

Transition to Yaluk

We are hoping to move to the Yaluk building early Term 2 - until then there are no spare spaces around the school.

Transition 1A: Rooms 25, 26, and 27 will move into Yaluk building. Art, PE, Music and VET Hospitality and HOL Café will also move into the new building.

Transition 1B: Rooms 16 -18 move to the secondary breezeway

Art Room in relocatable will stay for use by and storage of Art materials for younger classes

Transition 1C:  The rooms along the middle school breezeway (16-Art) were earmarked for removal or demolition. However, there was not enough  money to remove them. If stage 2 building works happens these will be  removed to start the building works. .

Classroom (16) nearest Therapy office will become a bookable space for Therapy and Wellbeing Groups. [Wellbeing is now embedded in the Strategic plan and Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) with allocation of physical and human resources]. As this will be a teaching space this area will be cleaned.

Other former classrooms 17/18 will be used for limited storage - Frances will authorise any items to be stored in these rooms. These rooms will not  be cleaned.

Transition 1D: A living skills program will be set up in the western half of former room 19 including kitchen and laundry. Eastern big room will become the middle school Collaboration, Assessment & Meeting Room. Science room will move to room adjacent to therapy & SSL office.

Extra big bin collections

I have organised extra big bin collections on the following days:

  1. Friday 8 December
  2. Wednesday 13 December (normal day)
  3. Friday 15 December
  4. Wednesday 20 December (last day of term)

If you notice the bin is full when using it, please send me an email or put it on the maintenance log and I will organise extra collections as needed during November.

Christmas decorations around the school

Could staff ONLY use blu-tak to attach decorations to the windows & woodwork? Sticky tape pulls the paint off the door frames, walls & roof & leaves a tacky residual on the windows.

Housekeeping items for all staff:

  1. THANK YOU to all staff the sandpits in PG 2 & PG 3 are looking better, thank you to staff for encouraging students to keep the sand in the sandpits this has helped reduce the slip hazard when sand is on concrete paths or artificial grass.
  2. Bus loop there has been a sink hole discovered in the bus loop. An area of the loop has been temporarily fenced to restrict access to the affected area. Please DO NOT move the fence or bollards.
  3. DO NOT throw rubbish into the Maintenance shed area. If you have large items to be disposed of, please enter in the Maintenance log & Jacob will collect them or place them in the big bin in the Primary parent carpark.
