Literacy

In the next few weeks, we will continue to analyse the way Pip Harry has written poetic verses in 'The Little Wave'. Students will develop further their character / story maps and build connections with their own lives and other texts. We will then use a particular verse from the text as a guide to writing our own verse about ourselves.

We will continue to look at the etymology of words from the book and start investigating the origins of Christmas words and the different celebrations around the world at this time.

ERP

Students have concluded their remarkable ERPs and are now eagerly prepared to present to their peers and families at the Expo on Thursday, December 7th, from 3:00 to 3:45 pm. Over the past two weeks, students have worked diligently to create artefacts showcasing their knowledge on various health-related topics.

Numeracy

L4 students are continuing consolidating their place value skills and knowledge to support their understanding of measurement.

In addition to this, they have all begun a project which involves planning a 5-10 day trip to anywhere in the world. This project has allowed for students to apply a range of skills and strategies that they have learnt this year, as well as apply these to the real world. Students have drawn on their knowledge of measurement, time, money as well as needing to use all four operations.

Student Council Elections:

On Wednesday, December 13th, students will be voting for their 2024 Student Council representatives. To be eligible, candidates must prepare a persuasive speech demonstrating why they are the right fit for the role. This presents a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their strengths and articulate the contributions they could make as a student council representative. We encourage students interested in taking on this challenge to practice speaking at home in front of whomever they feel comfortable

Shout outs:

We commend our students for navigating and successfully completing the assessment period; their resilience and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and we are incredibly proud of their dedicated efforts.
