Christmas Concert, Thursday December 7

The students have been enjoying preparations for next week’s whole school Christmas Concert! They are looking forward to coming together with their families to celebrate the end of the year and the start of the festive season in the uniquely Warrandyte setting of the Stiggants Reserve outdoor stage. In Performing Arts classes, the Year 6s have been rehearsing an edited version of Kevin O’Mara and Bushfire Press’s show, “A Kidsummer Night’s Dream”. They will be supported on stage by the Prep-Year 3 ensemble who are looking forward putting on some dress-ups and singing a couple of the show’s songs. All students are working with Kevin during special bush band incursions to learn both traditional and uniquely Australian Christmas songs – which they hope you will enjoy singing along to!

The Stiggants gates open from 5.30pm for families to enjoy their own picnic dinner or purchase food from the foodtruck and FOWPS ice-cream stall. While this will be a much more casual event than our whole school productions at George Wood Theatre, to support our on-stage performers, everyone is kindly asked to be ready to respectfully sit and focus on the students’ performances from 6.30pm. Students will be called to sit with their classroom teachers. Please check Compass for details about what to bring for your child.

And don’t forget the Warrandyte Community Carols on Saturday, December 16! Kevin has invited any passionate student singers to join him on stage with the bush band. It would be great to see him supported by large WPS ensemble!
