2024 House Captain Speeches

Today the year 3-6 staff and students were privileged to listen to the House Captain speeches for our 2024 leaders. I would like to say congratulations to all the students who spoke, especially Emmett who wasn’t originally going to speak but stood up and spoke off the cuff. The bar has risen yet again with the quality of these speeches and it is going to be a very difficult decision, but I am already excited about next year. 

I would like to thank our out-going House Captains who have done an awesome job this year! Thank you. 

Clinics

Students in grades 3-6 have been very lucky to have the services of qualified coaches coming to school and running extended sessions in both hockey and softball due to us receiving a Sporting Schools grant.

The year 5/6’s were also introduced to the sports of taekwondo and European handball during their 5/6 Sport session, giving them the opportunity to experience skills they may normally not come across. Excitement was high and the rain was not a deterrent when Andrew, a guest speaker from Disability Sport and Recreation, came to speak about his life as a quadriplegic. After an accident when he was 17 when he broke his neck, he had to face a life of being in a wheelchair. He described the sporting opportunities he was introduced to, which led to him playing wheelchair rugby for Australia and winning 2 gold medals at the 2016 and 2020 Paralympic Games. 

2024 House Swimming Carnival

Details for the House Swimming Carnival are now on Compass in Events. This competition is for 2024 grade 3-6 students and will be held on Monday 12th February at Aquarena. I ask that all details are filled in, permission given, and payment by Friday 15th December please so I can organise this event in the holidays.
