2023 College Awards Night

This Tuesday saw the annual Awards Presentation Evening take place in the Auditorium at our Mentone Campus. On the evening, the highest achieving 15 students from Years 7 to 11 were presented, receiving a certificate and badge acknowledging their achievements.

Additional Awards were also presented for Work Experience, VCE Vocational Major, Music, Public Speaking and Debating. There are a number of students who have gained entry into University Pathway Programs and these students were presented to the community.

There were two student performances on the night; Liam Jordan from Year 11 2023 played a beautiful guitar solo for the audience and Year 12 and La Salle Vice Captain for 2023 Austin Warfe presented a Public Speaking piece that showed deep thought and innovation. The night provided a great opportunity to showcase the talents of our students at St Bede’s College.

The evening culminated with the presentation of each Year Level Dux across both Bentleigh East and Mentone Campus students. Congratulations to all students who have performed at a high level academically over the course of 2023 and thanks to all of the supporting staff and teachers who support our students to achieve their personal best.

We are so proud of every student for their efforts. Keep up the great work!

Holidays…At Last!

With the Christmas break upon us, it gives us all the opportunity to stop, reflect and rejuvenate after a busy year. Expectations placed on students - coupled with the support required from parents and carers to meet such obligations - means that many of us are looking forward to the break as a time for ourselves, our families and our friends. This is both expected and encouraged!

At the same time, some of us will rest easy knowing that all is in place for the year ahead. As a College, we encourage all students to prioritise taking a break and enjoying life, and also acknowledge that the break also provides the opportunity to get organised and ensure that one is ready to commence the school year on a positive note.

The reading of novels over the break is strongly encouraged; it gives students an opportunity to digest the material and when tackled in class, having had the time to reflect on the material enhances learning. Additionally, putting in place all the organisational elements required for next year - books, stationery, routines for study and learning at home (including a designated study location) - enable a fresh and productive start that establishes positivity to build on.

We sincerely hope that all families have an enjoyable break, take the opportunity to forget about school and simply enjoy time with loved ones. We have had a wonderful year in 2023 and continue to move forward; with anticipation, we look to see what 2024 has to offer.

God Bless.
