Booklist, BYOD & Uniform
Booklist
The booklist for Year 7 and Year 8 2025 will be available for purchase online or instore via JP Books from Monday 2nd December 2024.
The booklist contains a number of compulsory items and a recommended stationary list. The stationary be purchased through JP Books or sourced elsewhere. Individual students may have particular pens, pencils or folders etc. they wish to purchase and they are free to do so. However, it is expected they will have sufficient exercise books, visual diaries and resources for each subject.
Compulsory Booklist items:
Year 7
- English (may be sourced elsewhere):
- Wonder by R.J. Palacio
- Things a Map Won't Show You: Stories from Australia & Beyond edited by Susan La Marca & Pam Macintyre
- Dictionary: any English dictionary that doesn't contain a thesaurus or grammar section.
- Maths: Mathspace Year 7 textbook and online resource (online subscription must be purchase through JP books, hardcopy textbook can be purchased secondhand)
- Humanities: Banqer High online resource (must be purchased through JP Books)
Year 8
- English (may be sourced elsewhere):
- The Road to Winter by Mark Smith
- Things a Map Won't Show You: Stories from Australia & Beyond edited by Susan La Marca & Pam Macintyre (retain from Year 7)
- Dictionary: any English dictionary that doesn't contain a thesaurus or grammar section (can be retained from Year 7)
- Maths: Mathspace Year 8 textbook and online resource (online subscription must be purchase through JP books, hardcopy textbook can be purchased secondhand )
- Humanities: Banqer High online resource (must be purchased through JP Books)
Students in all year levels are required to have the following items:
- Scientific calculator
- Safety glasses - for technology and science
- Headphones - for use when accessing online learning, these do not have to have a microphone
- Lock: Combination lock for school locker (must be purchased through JP Books, can be retained from previous years)
- Student ID Card: compulsory for all students and replaced each year (must be purchased through JP Books)
- Brinbeal Secondary College Study Planner (must be purchased through JP Books)

Uniform Shop & CSEF pack
Noone onsite store at the College will be open on orientation day and is currently open: Monday 8:30am - 4:30pm, Wednesday 1:00pm - 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm and Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm.

Parents may utilise their School Saving Bonus for the College uniform. Refer to details later in this newsletter.
Parents on eligible health care cards, who receive CSEF are able to access the Year 7 2025 CSEF pack.
The 2025 package contains the following items:
- Tops x 2 (i.e. windcheater / polo shirt / rugby top / shirt / summer dress)
- Pants x 2 (i.e. pants / track pants / trousers / shorts / skirts)
- Outerwear x 1 (i.e. puffer jacket)
- Pair of Shoes x 1
Applications for the Year 7 Uniform Package are currently open and close at the end of Term 1, 2025. The application form can be found on the College website.
Cost to families:
Where State Schools’ Relief is unable to provide a uniform item directly that contains a logo (due to contractual agreements with uniform retailers) the student will receive a voucher for $85 that subsidises the cost of these items. The voucher can be redeemed at your school uniform shop, or independent uniform retailer. Please note: vouchers do have an expiry date and must be used before this date.
Second-hand Books and Uniform

BYOD - Computers
Brinbeal Secondary College believes that the use of digital technologies at school allows the development of valuable skills and knowledge and prepares students to thrive in our globalised and inter-connected world. We will be operating Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Learning at the College will be delivered with the use of notebook computers. All students will have access to IT support at school, Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud.
All students and parents will be required to sign the Acceptable Use Agreement prior to being given access to the school network. This will be provided to families in January or upon enrolment.
Any Windows based OR Apple laptop which meets the minimum specifications listed below will be acceptable to use at Brinbeal Secondary College. Students who have an existing device that meets the requirements below will not need to purchase a new device. Please note:
- tablets and Chromebooks will not be suitable.
- devices should have a separate keyboard and not solely an on-screen touch keypad.
- support with Apple MacBook will be limited, the College is a Windows and Microsoft Teams school.
Minimum Specifications Windows Computers:
- Intel or AMD (2 or 4 cores) processor
- Battery life of 7 hours to ensure it lasts the school day
- Screen size should be at least 10 inch but 12 inch or bigger may be more comfortable when working for long periods
- 8GB RAM minimum to enable use of Adobe Creative Cloud
- Hard drive capacity of 256GB or higher
- Microsoft Windows 10 or later

It is strongly recommended that all devices have a protective case, cover or bag.
To assist families with their IT purchasing decisions, the College, has collaborated with two device providers to provide options that meet our minimum specifications:
Reboot IT: A provider of refurbished computers, allowing families to purchase a device at a reduced cost. Prices range from $300 to $500, including a one year warranty and free shipping. The link below will take you to a page listing the suitable computers.

JB Hi-Fi: A dedicated portal has been set-up for families to access. The portal provides options for families that meet or exceed the specifications listed above. JB Hi-Fi also offers extra onsite (at school) warranties and accidental repair options. All orders placed through this portal will be delivered to your home address or can be collected from your nominated JB Hi-Fi store.

- Select a preferred delivery method - Home delivery or In-store Pickup
