Principal's Message

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

This last few weeks has been a hive of activity for our incoming and existing Brinbeal Secondary College students. As a school community, it has been wonderful to spend time celebrating all of our students’ efforts throughout 2024 and getting excited for 2025.

On Thursday 19th December we welcomed all our new staff that will be joining us in 2025 as we continue to grow our learning community. On the day we welcomed over 30 new teachers and education support staff. At time of writing this report we are fully staffed for the beginning of 2025.

Throughout our foundation year as a college in 2024, our leadership team comprising our two Assistant Principals: Ms Angela Roberts, and Ms Justine Radford, together with our Business Managers: Ms Monique Richards, and our Educational Leaders, Ms Melissa Talevski and Ms Mary Karlos have overseen and driven the work identified in our Annual Implementation Plan with much focus and determination. I extend my gratitude to them for their tireless efforts and exceptional work.  Their contributions have facilitated the establishment of processes that enhance our ability to support students effectively.

I also wish to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our teaching and support staff, as well as our Students’ and College Council, for their commitment and dedication. The achievements of our new college this year would not be possible without the dedication of our whole staff team. I am deeply thankful for the willingness of our entire staffing group to go above and beyond to provide opportunities for students. Significant curriculum development has been undertaken this year, ensuring we create a school of high expectations where all students show strong learning growth and can learn is a safe, orderly and inclusive learning environment. Throughout our first year it is clear that our teachers and support staff have worked diligently to engage students and foster their growth.

Year 7 Statewide Transition Day

On Tuesday 10th December,  our new 2025 Year 7 students came and spent the day with us here at Brinbeal Secondary College. A huge thank you to all staff involved who supported our new mentor groups, taster lessons, and activities allowing students to get to know each other and develop new friendships.

We also held our Year 8 transition days throughout this last week; all amazingly supported by our students, and our staff. Our current Year 7’s spent the day with their new 2025 mentor classes and also engaged in some final wellbeing activities before the holiday break.

Thank you

This will be the final newsletter for the 2024 year.  I congratulate our entire school community who have contributed to our first year and extend my thanks to all members of the College Community for their support and dedication throughout the year.

On behalf of all of us at the college, I wish you a joyful and safe holiday season. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025, ready for another year of growth and success.

Kind Regards,

Mr. Simon Haber

College Principal
