Year 6 Graduation

We had a enjoyable evening last Thursday at Donaldson Park to celebration the Year 6 class graduating and completing their first seven years as primary school students.   Despite the warm conditions the new air conditioning worked a treat.    It was great to have Bob Steel in attendance to present the Bob Steel Community Student of the year award.  We had a great turnout of families and friends.  All students delivered a short personal speech, received a certificate and a school pen. A number of students received special awards, see below.  Well done to all students and to Mrs Turnbull for organising the event. Thanks to Kylie for the catering. A most enjoyable evening was had by all.

Year 9 Success

The  My9 program continues to go from strength to strength and this year was no exception.  It was great to visit the students and staff in Echuca after two days canoeing as part of their final assessment. Well done to all students who have achieved the Duke of Edinburgh  bronze level this year.    Students have enjoyed four camps this year. Of this group eight students enjoyed the State School Leadership camp in Term 1 at Don Valley. We have been fortunate to be offered seven spots  for Year 9 students in Term 4, 2025, also at Don Valley.  Well done to Miss Piccoli & Miss Van de Wetering for driving this program.  It was pleasing to see our Year 9 NAPLAN results out ranking a number of local schools in the Wimmera North Central regional results for this year.   Keep up the great work.

Planning for 2025 - Wedderburn  Fully Staffed

As you maybe aware, Victoria is experiencing the biggest teacher shortage in almost 50 years however, we are extremely happy to announce that we are fully staffed for 2025.

We are committing to having two Year 8 classes due to the large number in this group.  We are able to maintain our six primary classrooms and keep most under 16 students, except for the Year 5/6.

If you know your circumstances may change at the beginning of the school year, please contact the school office or Homeroom teacher.   Students in primary will be sent out a classroom interview time for the first week back in 2025. This will include the classroom teacher/s your child will have.  Please make every effort to be at this testing session. It is also a chance to meet with your child's teacher and pass on any valuable information.   These meetings cannot and will not be transferred to another time.   Specialist teachers for 2025 will be Mrs Prevos Art, P.E. Mr Campbell, Music: Mrs Postle and Auslan/Prep PE  Mrs George. Our primary classroom structure in 2025 will be:

On the 1st of July 2025 it will be 160 years to the day when a school officially opened in Wedderburn.  The 160 Years of Education will be celebrated the last week of Term 2, 2025 with a variety of activities across the week to embrace this monumental occasion.  One of the key features of the celebrations will be the launch of a hard cover, 200 page, coffee table recipe & history book.   We are now calling on families to submit their favorite recipes or Grandmas greatest hidden secrets to be considered for publication in this important book. Please understand that we are happy to take several recipes from families and community members, however it will not be possible for every recipe to be published.
