Classroom Teams News

Foundation News
Our new Foundation students have made a terrific start to their schooling journey at Pakenham Hills Primary School. Our first 10 days have been filled with lots of getting to know games and learning our school expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner. Our prep students are starting to make new friends and becoming familiar with school routines, specialists classes and playing in our large playground.
In the classroom, we have started learning the Phonic sounds /s/, /a/ and /t/ and their sound cues. Students have enjoyed playing counting games and learning to use mini whiteboards to write letters and numbers. We can't wait for the new experiences we are going to have together this year!
GRADE 1/2 NEWS
The Grade 1and 2 students have had a great start to the year. In class we have been spending time getting to know each other and revising our school expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner and what these expectations look like across the day at Pakenham Hills Primary School. We have been revising our prior learning, phonics sounds and place value in Maths. We have also started to look at new topics such as learning about Uluru which is our integrated topic for term 1. We are all looking forward to a fantastic year ahead.
5/6 News:
We have had a productive start to the year in the senior school. Students have been trying out for Interschool Sport teams (Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis and Softball) and played their first match against Orchard Park Primary School last Friday. The results were as follows:
- Our cricket team won by 63 runs. A terrific performance!
- Our tennis team won 11 sets to 9.
- Volleyball: the mixed team won both matches but the girls team lost both matches.
- Basketball: the girls team won by 4 points and the boys team only just lost 14-16.
- Orchard Park didn't have a softball team so our students used the morning for extra practise.
Many senior students have been preparing an application for leadership positions and in the classroom, they have been writing about themselves (or a celebrity) as they present an Autobiography or Biography piece of writing.
