Classroom Happenings

      Foundation & Year 1

Our Foundation and Year 1 students have had a wonderful start to the year, settling into routines, making new friends, and showing kindness to one another. Foundation students have loved exploring patterns with Unifix blocks, identifying and creating their own colourful designs. Meanwhile, the Year 1s have been having fun with a subitising game, getting quicker at recognising numbers and building confidence in their maths skills. It’s been so lovely to see their enthusiasm, teamwork and growing independence!

Years 2/3/4

Hello Parents and Carers and a very BIG welcome to our Year 2/3/4 class of 2025!

I hope that everyone is settling well into the new year. We have had a wonderful start to Term One with some great learning happening right off the bat!

Week One saw us settle into the classroom routines and expectations along with learning some interesting information about some of the new students that have joined our class. We learned about the roles and responsibilities that we will have each week throughout the classroom in the form of classroom jobs.

We played maths fluency games as ice breakers and practiced new multiplication skills by using repeated addition. This was lots of fun and we had many lightbulb moments where students understood the concept. This would be a great skill to keep practicing at home!

Week Two has been very busy with our novel study using the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. We are learning many new literary devices such as similes and metaphors, which the author uses to create more excitement and interest in the book.

During Week Three we have had the Swimming Carnival which was such a wonderful day. We talked and prayed about good sportsmanship and what it looked like. I am very proud to say that leadership, sportsmanship and great participation was seen ALL day. This week we have been learning many new maths skills such as how to regroup hundreds, tens and ones in a place value table. We looked at rounding numbers in hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands.

I am very much looking forward to the journey we are on together in 2025 and the amazing learning, friendships and growth that we will see throughout the year!

Years 5 & 6

What a great start to Term 1 in 5/6!

We’ve begun reading War Horse in Literacy, and the students are also diving into planning their own exciting narratives.

In Maths, we’ve been exploring different types of data and learning how to identify them.

We’re also focusing on emotions and habits (both good and bad) in Inquiry, discussing how they can affect us socially, emotionally, and physically.

It’s been wonderful getting to know the students so far, and I’m looking forward to an amazing year ahead!

The Year 6s also received their new 2025 shirts which look absolutely amazing!
