National Science Week
This week our Primary students have been working in the science labs looking at all things scientific and celebrating National Science Week. We are blessed here at the College being on one site as we can use the physical and staff resources of the Secondary Science team to impart great knowledge and understandings. Thank you to Mr Damien Lowe and Mr Murray Herbert for making this all possible - the students loved their time working with the Secondary staff.
Tomorrow our Year 5’s will wrap up National Science Week as they head to the Festival of Bright Ideas. We look forward to hearing all the stories and interesting facts that are discovered.
Book Week
On Friday 23 August our Primary students will gather in the hall at 9:15am to participate in their annual Book Week Parade to celebrate the fact that ‘Reading is Magic’. All students are invited to come to school in their costume, but please ensure that sensible shoes are worn. Information went to all families on Tuesday providing further details about the day. Those classes in Kinder - Year 2 have information on Seesaw, with ELC being provided with information on Storypark.
Arts Festival
Time is ticking on and the Mount Carmel College Arts Festival is just around the corner with it being celebrated on Friday 6 September. Staff are busily finalising art pieces, dramatic works, dance steps and musical items. A schedule is being finalised and will be sent home as soon as the last pieces of the puzzle are put together. Email correspondence will be sent home to families soon and class teachers will also be in contact if there are specific things required in relation to such things as costuming for performances. If you have any worries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your daughter’s classroom teacher.
Tournament of Minds
With only a couple of weeks to go before our TOM teams take to the ‘square’ to present their Challenge, rehearsals during school time have been exciting.
Tournament of Minds provides our students with the opportunities to think critically, work collaboratively, and solve complex problems creatively. It is designed to foster a wide range of skills that are valuable in both academic and personal development such as teamwork, public speaking skills, interdisciplinary learning and creativity. Tournament of Minds is more than just a competition; it is an enriching experience that cultivates essential life skills.
These skills will be on show at a final rehearsal on Wednesday 4 September with information coming out soon and then again on Saturday 7 September as the challenge is presented to judges.
Primary Athletics
On Friday 13 September our ELC - Year 6 students will take part in the Primary Athletics Carnival for 2024. Our amazing House Captains will soon begin to work on their House Meetings presentations and further information about this day will be made available soon thanks to the HPE Department.
