Grade 3

It’s been a very exciting week in grade 3 this week with lots happening!

We all enjoyed our Book Week celebrations on Tuesday and everyone got in the spirit of dressing up. We had some great costumes from Harry Potter characters and Mr Shark from the Bad Guys right through to Murchison-Toolamba Grasshoppers! Here’s what some of the students had to say about their costume.

“Today for Book Week, I came as Harry Potter because he is in lots of books and movies and I like them. I am wearing glasses, tie, a cloak, and black pants. Harry Potter is the best!” – Abbie

“Today I am wearing a Matilda outfit for book week. We had a parade, and it was so much fun. Matilda is a great movie and book by Roald Dahl.” – Havi

“Today for Book Week, I came as Mr Shark from the Bad Guys. I came dressed as Mr Shark because I think that he is a funny dude! I’m wearing a black jacket, purple t-shirt, a shark tooth necklace and a shark mask”. – George

This week we have also been working with the grade 4’s to prepare for some upcoming book clubs. For this, we did a book pass, where the students got to look through many different novels and rank which ones they would like to read. We look forward to starting these in the next couple of weeks.

Finally, we have been getting very excited for our camp to Toolangi which is in two weeks. We have started to look through the different activities that we are going to be doing and we even got to find out about the yummy food that we will eat!

Art News

It is always an exciting time in the art room when the clay comes out. The Grade 5/6 students have been planning and designing their clay coral reefs for a number of weeks and this week they finally got to start the creation process. Students used an armature for the base of their coral reef and then used a number of different hand building skills to create the different types of animals and coral for their reef. They will be left to dry, and next week will be painted. Well done Grade 5/6!
