Dan Garner - Assistant Principal Alternate Programs
As we approach the final three weeks of Term Three, I'd like to acknowledge that it has been one of the busiest terms for both teachers and students. I extend my thanks to all staff, parents, and students for their hard work and dedication.
I encourage all parents to reach out to us for updates on the work students need to complete as the school year draws to a close. We also offer support for those applying for employment or TAFE programs. Horsham College provides excellent resources in the apprenticeship and traineeship areas, and we would be happy to arrange a time for students and parents to discuss these options with us.
As we approach the September break, please take care of yourselves and your children. If students are feeling stressed as we get closer to receiving results, don't hesitate to contact us. Horsham has a range of services available to support you through various situations, even when the school is closed.
McKenzie Creek
We welcome Spring and more sunny days out at McKenzie Creek for the rest of the term. The Creek staff team commend our students for putting in a big effort with getting to school each day through these cold & wintery mornings. A reminder, if your student is going to be away from school with illness, send a SMS to either Ben or Ronnie.
Grade 6 Teacher Information Session
Last Monday afternoon we welcomed a group of Grade 6 Teachers and Principals from local primary schools to attend an information session out at the McKenzie Creek campus.
Assistant Principal Dan Garner hosted the afternoon and provided the primary school staff with an overview of the curriculum and therapeutic activities our students are engaged in to ensure we meet the wellbeing and academic needs of each student.
The afternoon was an excellent way to promote the work and achievements of our students, combined with shifting perceptions of the McKenzie Creek program.
Tree Planting Program
This week our McKenzie Creek students have volunteered their time to work collaboratively with the Horsham Rural City Council and Landcare to plant trees at Green Lake as a part of a ‘greening up’ Horsham initiative.
Thank you to Annie at Landcare for coordinating the program and well done to our students for putting in a big effort to plant the trees.
