Greater Western Region Basketball

Congratulations to the Intermediate Boys and Girls and our Senior Girls basketball teams on qualifying and playing in last week’s Greater Western Region Basketball in Ballarat at Selkirk Stadium.

The standard of basketball being played was amazing, with all our teams playing two pool games each, winning one and losing one which meant they all played in the 3rd v 4th final.

Well done to all students on your efforts and we hope you enjoyed playing the sport you love at such a high standard.

A big thank you to Toby L, Luke M and Jed R for coming along to referee our matches, Mr Bruce and Mr Dorward for coaching the teams.

Year 7 & 8 Black Range Volleyball

On Wednesday 21st August Horsham College took 53 students (seven teams) to the Horsham Basketball Stadium to compete in the Black Range Year 7 & 8 Volleyball competition.

In the Year 7 competition we entered one boys’ team and two girl’s teams.

The boy’s competition was very even, each of the team’s won one game and lost one which meant the calculators had to come out to determine the winner, which luckily enough it was Horsham College well done boy’s great work.

In the girl’s competition our Horsham College 1 team was very strong and did not drop a game, they will  now play next level GWR on September 10th with the Year 7 boy’s. well done to both teams on your day and the fun and laughter had by all year 7’s was great to see.

The Year 8 competition was played to a very high standard, both HC 1 boys and girls teams made the grand final against HTLC. Despite both teams losing the final the games were close, the girls losing in two very close sets and the boys pushed their opponents all the way in a three-set thriller.

Well done to all our students on your efforts both on and off the court, you all represented your school amazingly, it was great to see all students having a blast.

Year 7 & 8 Black Ranges Basketball

We took three Year 7 Boys basketball teams to Ararat on Tuesday 3rd September to compete in the Black Range Basketball Tournament.

A great day was had by all students with your HC 1 team winning all their pool matches to make the Final against Warracknabeal.

Unfortunately for the boys they were not able to sustain the good form going to down to a very good Warrack team.  Despite the loss all teams had a great day out and upheld our school values very well.

Thanks to Mr Bruce for your support of the day and also a big thank you to Henry W for coming along to assist with refereeing our matches.
