Grade 3-6:

Reading/Writing:

The Grade 4’s from Grade 4/5A classroom have been joining Grade 3/4A for Reading & Writing, and the Grade 5’s from the Grade 4/5A classroom have been joining Grade 5/6A for Reading & Writing. The Grade 3’s and Grade 4’s have had an exciting couple of weeks continuing their study of the book “Bad Dad” which is written by David Walliams. Students have thoroughly enjoyed the characters and storyline in this novel and seem to find it very enjoyable to read. The discussions in and outside the classroom have been great regarding their study of this book.

The Grade 5’s and Grade 6’s have begun learning about Autobiographies and have started planning to write their very own personal Autobiography. The feedback from the students has been extremely positive, and the students seem to be thoroughly enjoying this topic for our Reading and Writing classes during the week. All students in the Senior Module have been working extremely hard the past couple of weeks and should be proud of the hard work they have achieved for their learning.

Maths:

The Senior Module has finished up the topic of “Fractions” during maths lesson the past week and have begun their new topic during class time. Grade 3/4A have begun learning about the topic of “Maps” and have been thoroughly enjoying the activities happening in class. Grade 4/5A and Grade 5/6A have begun learning about the topic of “Mass, Capacity and Length” and have been able to include their students in a wide range of learning activities.

Inquisitive Minds

The Year 3/4's have been continuing to learn about the Earth, in the past few weeks we've looked at the sun and the moon and the impacts each has on our planet Earth.

This week to wrap up our learning about the moon we used Oreo's to recreate the 8 differrent phases of the moon which occur over a 27 day cycle. If you look outside tonight can the students tell what phase the moon is currently in?

Reminder: Waratah Bay Camp is happening from Wednesday the 27th of November - Friday the 29th of November for the Grade 3-6 Students at WMPS.
