Year 8 Boys Cricket – Monday 21 October
The year 8 boys wondered down to Elgar Park for a day of interschool cricket on Monday. Despite some wet and dewy conditions, the boys got off to a good start against Blackburn, with some very disciplined batting, led by Jack Moran with a classy knock. Setting a very respectable total of 88 for Blackburn to chase, the boys started well with some tight bowling all around and great pressure and encouragement in the field. Unfortunately, this wasn’t quite enough, and Blackburn chased down the winning runs with an over or two to spare.
Next up the boys were in the field against Box Hill High and started with some terrific bowling that made scoring hard to come by, in particular some great bowling by Gabe Pationo Portela and James Rogers, as well as Tim McGregor taking catches for fun in the field. Some great hitting by Harry Nicholson and Matt Sheean saw the boys chase down the total set with time to spare and end the day with a win. Good job to all involved for a great day! – Mr Ewart
Year 8 Tennis – Monday 21 October
Well done to all students who competed in the Year 8 Tennis competition on Monday! A big shout out to Rina Eom and Emily Lim, both of whom had tough competition but took it in their stride and were positive about the challenge the entire time. – Mr Tozer

After winning their first game against Blackburn High School, the team went into the final versing Box Hill High School. A close game, with some fantastic performances in both batting and bowling, but unfortunately the students were unable to come away with the win. – Mr Kofoed.

The Year 7 Tennis Tournament showcased impressive talent and sportsmanship, with Eric Baskarada standing out as a remarkable competitor. Throughout the day, all students demonstrated not only skill on the court but also a commendable spirit of sportspersonship. Overall, the tournament was a great success, highlighting the skills and sportsmanship of all participants. Well done team! – Mr Tozer
EMR Year 7 Girls Softball – Tuesday 29 October
On Tuesday the Year 7 girls ventured out to Knoxfield for the Eastern Metro Region Softball. A busy schedule lay ahead for the girls with four games to be played in a round robin format for a shot at reaching the State Finals! First up the girls faced a very impressive Brentwood team. Despite being a player short, the girls gave it a red hot crack and worked extremely well together to narrowly go down 11-8. With no time to waste, the girls were straight back into it against Balwyn High, who again proved to be formidable foes. Despite their best efforts the girls couldn’t quite come away with the win. After a little break for lunch the girls were up against Mount Waverley who again proved to be a very challenging opponent and couldn’t quite overcome them. Despite the losses the girls never dropped their heads and kept trying their best and encouraging each other which was fantastic to see. Their efforts came to fruition with a well-deserved win against Ashwood to finish the day. Special shout out to Sofia Tangaroa for her amazing pitching, Abbi Hahn for her great hits, Madeleine Jolley for always doing what the team needed and volunteering to be Catcher many times. Well done to all the girls for a great day and your efforts in reaching this stage of competition! – Mr Ewart and Ms Paton
EMR Year 8 Girls Cricket – Wednesday 30 October
After beating all their opponents in the Whitehorse Division competition on the 21st of October, our Year 8 Girls Cricket team were excited to move onto the EMR competition. Their first game, a Quarter Final, against Norwood SC was as close as it gets. Final scores were Norwood 4/67 and KSC 4/66, losing by one run! Regardless, there were some standout performances on the day, including Lucy Crooks as team captain, continuing to cheer and celebrate despite being run out before facing a ball. Nevie Crouch was fantastic during her bowling overs, and Varsha Avulanna was not out for 22 runs! The team had a positive spirit throughout the day, and we could not have been prouder of their efforts. Well done everyone! – Ms Ryan
