The library was very lucky to have Rachel (a parent of a year 9 student) give up her time this term to help me in the library. She had just completed her Diploma of Library & Information Studies and wanted to gain some real life experience. Rachel used her skills to maintain and update the history databases as well as create some eye catching displays and assist with the general running of the library. Her efforts were greatly appreciated and what magic she created with the war and language areas was just brilliant.
Manga continues to be one of the most popular collections in the library so why not add to it; I am always on the look out for manga that is different from what we already have. Hopefully these three new titles are a hit: Black Butler (everyone needs a butler) Medalist (one girls journey into the Olympic figure skating spotlight) and Fangirl (who needs friends IRL).
The first ever Mahjong event happened in the library .........no advertising required by the looks of things. Many students were curious as to how this very interesting looking game works; huge thank you to the teachers who gave up their time to run it and no doubt will keep the excitement of learning a new skill going for many Mondays more!
The libraries instagram page is a great one stop shop for new books, trending titles, a few pictures of students and library & school antics in general; nudging just over 1000 followers........
