PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Year 9 & 10 Melbourne Camp:

From Monday to Wednesday this week, 20 of our Year 9 and 10 students embarked on a three-day Melbourne Urban Camp packed with experiences and exploration. The group departed on Monday this week, travelling first by train to Bendigo and then continuing to Melbourne by coach.

Day One saw students tour the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), gaining insights into Australia's sporting history.

They then headed to Melbourne Central for an orientation session and evening meal before tackling an Adventure Room challenge. Students worked together using clues to “escape the room,” building upon their problem-solving and teamwork skills.

On Tuesday, the group explored the Melbourne Zoo, where they had the opportunity to engage with a variety of animal species and habitats. The day continued with sightseeing along Southbank, taking in Melbourne’s vibrant riverside culture, before enjoying dinner on the famous Lygon Street, known for its Italian cuisine.

Wednesday featured a visit to ARTVO, an immersive, interactive art gallery where students became part of the artwork through creative photography. This was followed by a tour of the Police Museum, providing students with a look into Victoria’s law enforcement history and criminal investigation.

One of the key aims of the camp was for students to experience city life, develop confidence in navigating a busy urban environment, and effectively use public transport. As a challenge, pairs of students were responsible for navigating from one place to the next. We’re proud to report that no one got lost and that students quickly became confident and capable city travellers.

Throughout the trip, students were consistently praised for their behaviour. Staff at multiple venues complimented their manners, conduct, and respectful curiosity.

It was wonderful to see them represent our school community so well.

Congratulations to all students involved for making the most of this opportunity and thank you to the staff who supported the trip and ensured its success.

State Cross Country:

Congratulations to Xander M who finished 28th at the State Cross Country.

This is a noteworthy effort considering how many competed and that these are the best from the zone qualifications.
