From the Principal

Welcome to Term 3 2025
I trust everyone’s recent break offered a chance to unwind and enjoy new experiences. It’s been truly enjoyable to hear from both students and staff about their various adventures—whether exploring distant destinations or savoring time closer to home. These stories reflect the joy of discovery and the value of rest, creating lasting memories. As we move forward, I’m confident that many more meaningful moments lie ahead for us all.
Last Friday, we celebrated a significant milestone—Kambala’s 138th birthday—commemorated with a whole school assembly on Foundation Day. A bright, sunny day provided a truly fitting backdrop for the occasion. Foundation Day honours our rich legacy and offers an opportunity to reaffirm the cherished traditions that define us. As a school, we look forward to continuing our mission of empowering young women for many years to come.
We had the honour of welcoming our new Prefects for the 2025/2026 term, while also expressing our sincere appreciation to the outgoing leaders for their commendable service. To both cohorts, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and exemplary leadership. The ability to balance academic responsibilities, extracurricular commitments, and leadership duties exemplifies remarkable courage and purpose.
To our Year 12 students, we wish you all the best as you prepare for your trial examinations this term. Your time as full-time students at Kambala are ending, but many exciting milestones await, including the Year 12 Week, the Year 12 Assembly and the much-anticipated Valedictory Dinner.
Term 3 promises to be filled with events and activities. One highlight is the Father’s Day celebrations across Hampshire House, Junior and Senior School, and we are especially looking forward to celebrating this day with our community. Please keep an eye on the Solstice for details.
From Week 4 to Week 8 this term, I will be taking a period of contracted Sabbatical Leave to engage in professional learning, reflection, and strategic thinking. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity to have time to explore ways to further enrich Kambala’s strategic direction and learning culture.
During this time, Mr Coppin Deputy Principal, Head of Junior School, will step into the role of Acting Principal. I have every confidence in his thoughtful leadership and know the School community will continue to thrive in his capable hands.
This ten-week term ushers in the arrival of Spring, a season I always find especially uplifting—bringing with it a renewed energy and a certain “spring in our step.” It’s a vibrant time of growth and possibility, and we eagerly anticipate a term filled with both productivity and enjoyment. We look forward to all that Term 3 has in store for us.
