Grade 6 WA
Grade 6 have had a very busy start to term.
We have continued with the My Future Academy sports program run by Ainslee. We have enjoyed playing games where we have to problem solve and test strategies with our team.
We’ve been very lucky to have Senior Constable Hayley visit us and talk to us about online safety and where to seek help if you find yourself in a situation that doesn’t feel right.
For our novel study, we have been reading Once by Morris Gleitzman. This fictional story is set in 1940’s and is inspired by real events. It follows a boy called Felix as he navigates the events of the war and the holocaust. I have been impressed with the maturity and sensitivity students have shown as we learn about this difficult part of history.
In Maths we completed a unit on fractions and now are learning about measuring and calculating angles.
Our topic for religion is ‘Sacred Stories’. We are learning to navigate the bible and understand what the different sections have to offer. Looking at different scripture passages and interpreting meaning for own lives has been a focus for this unit.
We welcome back Mrs Walsh this week and look forward to seeing her and hearing her travel stories. Well done Grade 6, you’ve had an excellent start to term!
