Respectful Relationships

Promoting Respect, Equality, and Positive Gender Relationships

Building Respectful Relationships at Our Lady’s

At Our Lady’s Primary School, we believe that respectful relationships are the foundation of a safe, inclusive, and thriving school community.

Respectful relationships help children feel valued, heard, and connected. They teach empathy, kindness, and the importance of treating others with dignity—skills that support both learning and lifelong wellbeing.

What do respectful relationships look like at school?

  • Listening to others and valuing different perspectives
  • Speaking kindly and using positive language
  • Including others and celebrating diversity
  • Resolving conflict calmly and fairly
  • Showing care for ourselves, others, and our environment

We actively teach and model these behaviours through our wellbeing programs, classroom activities, and everyday interactions. Families play a vital role too—when respectful relationships are nurtured at home, children bring those values into the classroom.

Together, we can continue to build a culture of respect, safety, and belonging for every child.
