From Boarding Houses

Lockington - Year 7

Term 4 for the year 7 students has been a term of growth, celebration and reflection. The footy season ended, and the students threw on the basketball jerseys and started to practice their 3-pointers. The boarding house introduced a home meal addition to our "Student Chef" project where students make a meal for each other which reminds them of home and family.

New activities were introduced to the students such as escape rooms, in house detective games, a new pool with fun waterslides and further exploration of Melbourne utilising public transport.

The year 7's have earned the responsibilities of taking 'Street Leave' on a weekend, through lots of practice this last term. They also enjoyed a transition sleep over at the boarding houses which they will be moving into next year.

As the weather started to warm up towards summer, the finish line of their huge first year at MITS was in sight, followed by many celebrations. Starting with the MITS annual Gala, some students performed or spoke in front of many people for the first time. The students made thoughtful Christmas gifts for our homework volunteers, saw the Christmas lights in Melbourne and made a video reel of "thank you'" and "well-wishes" to the wonderful Lockington staff who have supported them this year too.

They finished off the year with a week of celebrations: beginning with an end of year activity on a fishing charter - unfortunately the weather stumped our catching capability, but a fun time was had. Families then arrived joined us for the MITS Celebration week in preparation for their graduation last Thursday.

We hope you have a great holiday, a safe festive season and can't wait to see you all next year!

364 - Senior Fellas

The fellas had an amazing time at Samaria in November on Cup Weekend, leaving on Saturday and returning Tuesday. They made the most of every moment with yabbying, bushwalking, games, weaving, spotlight, and farm work. It was a great opportunity to try new activities, step outside their usual routine, and challenge themselves in different ways.

A huge thanks to Rick and Liz for hosting us. It was fantastic to see Lockington and 364 spending quality time together, building friendships, and strengthening relationships in such a relaxed and fun environment. Thanks also to the staff who joined the camp and helped make it such a memorable experience.

Another standout moment for the term was the Harmony Cup. The fellas proudly represented the First Nations U14 Rugby team, showing incredible skill, determination, and teamwork on the field. The tournament was more than just a competition; it was a chance to connect with culture, celebrate identity, and build confidence while supporting one another. The energy, spirit, and camaraderie they displayed throughout the games made it an experience everyone will remember.
