Senior Team

What an incredible year it has been for our Grade 5/6 students! As we reach the end of 2025, we are so proud of the growth, resilience and enthusiasm shown by every learner. This year has been filled with memorable experiences—engaging inquiry projects, exciting excursions, leadership opportunities, and countless moments of teamwork and laughter.

Our students have continued to challenge themselves academically and personally, showing maturity, responsibility and a genuine commitment to their learning. It has been wonderful to watch friendships flourish, confidence grow, and new skills develop across all areas of the curriculum.

We congratulate our Year 6 students as they complete their final year of primary school and head off to new adventures in 2026. We will miss them greatly and know they will thrive in the next chapter. Our Year 5 students should also be incredibly proud of their hard work and are more than ready to step into leadership roles next year.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support throughout the year. We wish everyone a safe, joyful and relaxing break!

Graduation

Our Grade 6 students celebrated their graduation this week, marking the end of their primary school journey with pride, excitement, and plenty of smiles. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise their achievements, growth, and resilience throughout the year. Families, staff, and friends gathered to honour each student as they prepare to take their next big step into secondary school. We are incredibly proud of the young leaders they have become and wish them all the very best for the future.

안녕하세요 Annyeonghaseyo! Our Middle Years students had another go at Jegichagi. The energy, teamwork, and laughter out in the yard made for an exciting practice session.

Jegichagi has been a fantastic way to build skills, coordination, and cultural understanding as part of our Korean program.

Jegichagi rules: players kick the jegi into the air using the inner side of their foot. The winner is the player who can kick the jegi the most times without it touching the ground or another part of their foot.

From this competition, we elected two champions per class to represent Ballan Primary School in the video competition with our South Korean friends. Well done to Thomas, Ari, Austin, Jordyn, and Coby!

A huge thank you to Susea Spray for visiting Ballan Primary School and taking our students on an imaginative adventure! Our learners had a fantastic time discovering more about pirates, boats, writing, animals, and history through engaging storytelling, visuals, and interactive activities. The excitement and curiosity were wonderful to see! We’re so grateful for the opportunity to bring such a fun and educational experience to our school. Thank you, Susea, for inspiring our young storytellers and explorers!

A huge well done to all our students for their stellar efforts and incredible displays of creativity at this year’s Art Show! The talent, imagination, and hard work on display was truly inspiring.

Thank you to all the families who came along to support our young artists and enjoy the wonderful artworks on display. Your enthusiasm and encouragement mean so much to our school community.

A special congratulations to Ms Spencer for organising such an amazing event and showcasing the artistic strengths of our students so beautifully.

3/4 Camp

Our 3/4 students have had the most incredible time away on camp! They brought endless energy, took on challenges with courage, supported one another beautifully, and - most importantly - had an absolutely fantastic time together.

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteer Alex, our esteemed ES staff Miss Stacey and Miss Brooke, and our tremendous teachers Ms A, Mr Petersen, and Ms Nicholls for their care, enthusiasm, and dedication.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Angahook Holiday Camp for making us all feel welcomed, safe, and excited throughout our stay.

The smiles, teamwork, and resilience shown by our students made the day truly special.

Our 3/4s kicked off camp with an exciting journey, and the excitement started before we even arrived! Students were thrilled to spot the famous lighthouse and take in the views of the gorgeous ocean on the bus ride.

Once we reached camp, we jumped straight into the fun with a full round of activities, including:

🪵 Hut building

🪢 Low ropes course

🎯 Archery

🎢 The giant swing (an instant favourite!)

After a big afternoon of teamwork, courage, and laughter, students enjoyed some time to explore the camp site and take in their new surroundings.

We wrapped up the evening with a warm campfire and marshmallows, the perfect end to an exciting first day away.

What a fantastic start to camp!

Day 2 of camp was the biggest day of all for our 3/4s — and what an adventure it turned out to be!

Students took on a 90-minute return walk (8 km!), and while the amount of walking wasn’t everyone’s favourite part, their resilience and determination were impressive. The reward at the end was well worth it!

In the evening we held a creative camp concert. The creativity, humour, preparation, and stage presence were to be marvelled at. Well done on being so courageous, 3/4s!

Day 2 Highlights:

🏖️ A full day of beach sightseeing and games

🏳️ The much-loved ‘flags’ game

🏰 Sandcastle building, with some very creative designs

🪨 Cave and rockpool exploration, where students discovered fascinating artefacts

⚓️ Seeing the lighthouse where Round the Twist was filmed, which was a real thrill for many!

Students were captivated by nature, excited by their discoveries, and full of joy throughout the day. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and teamwork shine.

Day 3 marked our final morning at camp, and while everyone was feeling tired (and a little sad to say goodbye), our 3/4s still embraced every moment with enthusiasm and teamwork.

Students completed the last of their activity rotations, including:

🎯 Archery

🪵 Hut building

🪢 Low ropes course

🎢 The giant swing (still a favourite!)

We also tackled 'Initiative', a rotation filled with fun, engaging, and challenging teamwork activities that had everyone thinking, cooperating, and cheering each other on.

To finish our camp experience, we enjoyed a yummy lunch of fruit, lemon slice, and a classic sausage sizzle before it was time to head home.

We’re so proud of the resilience, kindness, and positivity shown by every student over the three days. Well done, everyone, on an unforgettable camp!

Junior Team

Our Prep to Year 2 students had an action-packed end to term, having a monster day. The excitement was buzzing in their sports colours.  Junior Athletics Day was a huge success from start to finish. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the families who joined us, filled the sidelines with encouragement, and supported every student as they gave their best. A big congratulations to the Possums, who proudly took out first place after a day of fantastic effort and teamwork!

The fun continued in the afternoon with our Late Stay, rounding off a big day of energy, laughter, and new experiences for our junior students. The children loved dancing and singing along with DJ Mauriks, who kept spirits high by blasting an iconic mix of K-pop Demon Hunters, and T-Swizzle hits. With all the excitement, it was no surprise that not a single sausage was left by the end of the night. It truly was a memorable celebration for everyone involved!

We wish everyone all the best and a Merry Christmas with a much needed rest and safe holiday break.

Specialists Team

Science

The Science room has been actively buzzing in recent weeks with lots happening!

The 5/6 students were fortunate to participate in an incursion with EarthEd where they explored block coding with Sphero robots. They worked through a series of challenging mazes by using problem solving skills to understand the effects of changes to length, time and speed of Sphero movement code.

They have also been learning about renewable and non-renewable energy and building solar powered cars to test their knowledge.

The 3/4 students have been busily completing their Caine's Arcade cardboard arcade games to culminate their Physics learning about simple machines and force and motion.

Preps and Year 1/2 students have also been learning about force and motion and seeing how the games we play require the use of force and motion.
