Tuesday 2nd December
This year our school participated in King swim’s “Swim to School Day,” a day dedicated to raising awareness about water safety. Students arrived in colourful, fun free dress, focusing on being sun smart, summer-ready, and water safe. We saw plenty of fluoro zinc noses, floaties, boardshorts, and wide-brimmed hats across the school.
We were also lucky to have Kingswim’s mascot, Kingsley the Platypus, welcoming students at Gate 1. In addition, the Prep classrooms enjoyed a special visit from Kingswim representatives who shared a story about Kingsley the Platypus and his five essential water safety rules that help keep everyone safe around water.
It was a fun and educational event for our school, and an important reminder about staying safe in and around water.
The King swim book will be available in the library for students to borrow and enjoy.

Well done to Grade 1, Classroom 113, for being the school winners of this week’s King Swim Swim to School Week dress-up competition!
The students did an amazing job with their outfits and were very excited to receive their goodies — new swim bags and frisbees!

Last week our Foundation students enjoyed an exciting day out at Dinosaur World in Tyabb. The children were full of enthusiasm as they explored the park, discovering life-sized dinosaur models, learning fun facts, and engaging in hands-on activities that brought their learning to life.
Students loved getting up close to the animatronic dinosaurs, listening to the roars and movements, and asking lots of curious questions. A highlight of the day was the interactive fossil dig, where children had the chance to uncover “dinosaur bones” just like real palaeontologists.
It was a wonderful day of learning, adventure, and imagination. Our Foundations represented the school beautifully, and we are so proud of how engaged and excited they were throughout the excursion.
A big thank you to our staff for making the day such a memorable experience for our youngest learners.

On Monday 2 February, our Grade 6 students enjoyed an action-packed day at Melbourne Cable Park. The excursion was a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build teamwork skills, and celebrate the beginning of their final year of primary school.
Throughout the day, students rotated through three exciting activities:
Our Grade 6s represented the school wonderfully, showing resilience, teamwork, and great behaviour across all activities. It was a memorable day and a fantastic way to start the year.
A huge thank you to Mrs Burt for organising the day and to the staff who supported the excursion and ensured the day ran smoothly.
Our Grade 6 students recently took part in the 2x1 Sports Program, enjoying two sessions of different sports. In each session, they swapped and participated in one sport per session, trying new activities and building skills.
The sports included Tennis, Ten Pin Bowling, Fitness Circuit, Golf, Rock Climbing, and Indoor Cricket.
Students showed great enthusiasm, teamwork, and resilience, making it a fun and active learning experience for all.
Our Grade 5 students recently had the chance to take part in a triathlon, designed to give them a taste of swimming, cycling, and running in a fun and supportive environment. The swim leg was held at King Swim (our school pool), while the bike leg took place safely in the school car park.
While participation was lower than hoped, the students who joined in had a fantastic time trying new activities, challenging themselves, and cheering each other on. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, resilience, and enjoyment as they experienced a new sporting challenge.
A big thank you to Mrs Burt for coordinating this event, it takes a lot of work to organise these events. Also, thank you to the staff and helpers who made the day safe, fun, and memorable for all involved.
Last week, an enormous amount of work went into refreshing our Flagpole Garden. Although we had reached out for volunteers and unfortunately didn’t have any additional helpers from the community, we would like to acknowledge the incredible effort from Bluey Pete and Jaimie, who worked tirelessly to transform the front garden. Their hard work has made our school entrance look fresh, welcoming, and beautifully maintained.
A huge thank you also to Jamie R for sourcing the plants and supporting the project from start to finish.
We truly appreciate the dedication and hard work of those involved in helping keep our school grounds looking their best.
