STEM

Prep - This term, students will be focusing on Earth and space science; learning about the weather and how it affects our daily lives. This week, all classes continued to focus on seasons. Students learned about how some animals migrate to warmer places when the weather starts to cool down. They also learned how other animals will gather food during autumn and then hibernate during winter
Years 1/2 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and learning to follow the engineering design process. The focus will be on turning ideas into solutions. Students began working on a paper house challenge. They are tasked with building a house out of paper for Superhero figures that will stay standing when blown on by a wolf (aka a hair dryer). This challenge is based on the story of the Three Little Pigs.
Year 3 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to create suitable solutions to problems. This week, students were continued to learn about the functionality in the program Tinkercad (3D design software). They have focused on moving, resizing, rotating and grouping shapes together. These are essential skills for them to have before they complete their build challenge.
Year 4 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to create suitable solutions to problems. This week, students continued to refamiliarise themselves with Tinkercad (3D design software), showing their understanding of different skills which will be important when they complete their build challenge.
Years 5/6 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to evaluate, refine and improve their solutions. This week, students refamiliarised themselves with Tinkercad (3D design software) ready to start their next build challenge.
