Introducing our 2026 Equestrian Captain, Evie Kennedy
I recently caught up with Evie to chat about her upcoming role as Equestrian Captain. She brings great enthusiasm along with a range of thoughtful ideas that will help enhance and support our equestrian community. We are very much looking forward to an exciting, inspiring, and fun-filled year ahead in 2026.
I’m so excited to have you as our 2026 Equestrian Captain! What goals or ideas do you have for the equestrian program in the year ahead?
For 2026, I have many ideas to bring people together! My goal is to help introduce a variety of events across multiple disciplines, ages, and activities. With a variety of fun and informative sessions, I will aim to broaden the equestrian centre's range of riding styles and techniques.
We have a wonderful team of junior riders. How do you hope to inspire and support them as part of the equestrian program?
I already love hearing from the junior riders and just watching them have fun! Next year I hope to make myself as approachable as possible as I am more than happy to help. I find teaching and mentoring young riders a really rewarding and genuinely enjoyable experience. Having been involved in horsemanship since I was a junior, I recognise the value of experience and the willingness to share knowledge. Ultimately, being among these riders as a mentor and friend is the most effective way to build a relationship and make a difference during their time at college.
You’ll be completing Year 12 next year. How do you plan to balance your riding commitments with your school workload and other responsibilities?
Balancing both Year 12 and my riding commitments will require me to use my time productively. While next year will be a high school workload year, I have committed to prioritising horses whenever possible. Throughout all senior school, I have ridden and cared for my horses while maintaining my classes, and I aim to build on this success next year!
Do you have a favourite discipline or event, and what is it about that discipline that appeals to you most?
I struggle to choose a favourite event; I believe that all disciplines have amazing benefits for both horse and rider! While some people stick to one riding style, I love to branch out and try all kinds of things. Although I do enjoy diversifying my riding, I love the energy and community of show jumping, whether it's competitive or not!
Thursday 4 December at 3:30pm – 7:30pm
This will be a wonderful afternoon of riding, friendly House competition and celebration as we wrap up our equestrian year together.
The event is open to all College students from ELC and up, and we warmly encourage riders of all levels to take part.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students to show their House spirit, support each other, and enjoy a positive, inclusive competition environment. We look forward to sharing a great evening with our riders and families.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
