Hello everyone,
We have had another action-packed week in sports, highlighted by our students representing the school with fantastic pride and energy at Interschool Sports. Competing against other schools requires not just physical skill, but excellent teamwork, respect and resilience. Whether celebrating a great play or cheering on their teammates, our athletes demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and were a true credit to our school community. Huge congratulations to all the students involved!
Our PE program continues to focus on skill development and strategic thinking. Our Foundation and Year 1/2 students have been working hard on their basketball skills, focusing specifically on dribbling. We’ve been practising keeping the ball under control, using finger pads instead of palms, and keeping our eyes up.
Meanwhile, Years 3–6 have transitioned into the fast-paced world of indoor netball. This unit is all about tactical awareness and precision. Students are honing their spatial awareness to find open pockets on the court, mastering the strict footwork rules, and practicing sharp, clinical passing to move the ball effectively down the court.
I am incredibly proud of the focus, enthusiasm, and teamwork all our students are bringing to the sporting field and lesson as we near the end of the term. Keep up the fantastic work.
Kind regards, Tom Porter

The girls’ netball game was incredibly exciting. From the very beginning, everyone showed great energy and determination, which helped us stay focused and positive throughout the match. We worked really well as a team, communicating clearly, supporting each other, and celebrating every small success along the way.
The game was very close, with both teams playing strongly and showing great sportsmanship. We were thrilled to come away with a 5 to 4 win, but what stood out most was how much fun we had playing together. It was a fantastic experience to compete against Woodleigh Primary School, and we were proud of the effort, teamwork, and resilience everyone demonstrated.

Today Friday the 29th of May, all the 5/6s in inter school sport competed with Woodleigh. We had 4 out of the 5 teams from St Brendan’s win and only 1 loss. It was a very competitive but fun morning! Every single team was very kind and showed a lot of teamwork and sportsmanship. The biggest win was in AFL with Woodleigh's score ending at 19 and St Brendan's being 126. Each player contributed to the game whether they played footy outside school or not. We are very proud of every single student who had a crack! Thank you to the umpires who did an amazing job!

It was the boys' first netball game against Woodleigh on Friday, 29th May. The whole team was pumped up for our first match. When the other school arrived, we started our warm-up. The shooters practised their shooting, while the rest of the team practised transitioning the ball to the other end quickly. When we got onto the court, we were told our positions; everyone got a position, but a few of us were subbed off for the first quarter.
We got ready in our positions for the game, and then the whistle blew! The game started and everyone bolted to get the ball. With a bit of back-and-forth action, Woodleigh scored a goal! Woodleigh went up by two goals, but it was still the first quarter, so it was still anyone's game. In the end, the final score was 14-18 in our favour! It was a great, competitive game, and we were so proud of our teamwork.

On Friday May 29, Woodleigh Minimbah came to our school for interschool sports. Our team watched the boys first to see how they play and for some inspiration. The game started soon after and we were all really nice, wishing each other good luck and telling each other how good they are. The first half ended and it was 2-0 and we were losing but we were all proud of our effort. The boys had their second half and we waited while we watched, five minutes later we started to get a little nervous because we needed three goals to win. The second half started and a few people got a little injured from the ball going everywhere. The game ended and we lost 5-0 with two own goals but the goalies were still great and tried their best, so did everyone else. I told everyone even though we lost it doesn’t mean we aren't going to lightning premiership.

On Friday 29th May, just before the girls played, the boys soccer team went out onto the pitch to play. We were also playing Woodleigh. In the first half we had scored three goals already with Henry M scoring twice and Duke P having scored once. Our goal keeper for the first half was Nicolas CB and not a single goal went in. As the whistle blew, the first half came to an end and then the girls went out to play, We watched them wish everyone good luck and then they played. In the second half, the boys didn’t stop trying. About halfway into the second half, Henry went and had a shot at the goals from halfway and… SCORED.
Later in the match, due to a handball, the opposition had a free kick and got past Finn, the second goalkeeper, making it their first goal of the match. In the end, it was 5-1 with Henry scoring 4 and Duke scoring 1. We had a great morning playing soccer in the boys team.
